How to Vote in Missouri on August 4

On August 4, 2020, registered voters in Missouri will have the opportunity to vote yes on Amendment 2 to expand Medicaid to 230,000 hardworking Missourians who live in poverty yet do not currently qualify for Medicaid. To help make your voting experience easier, the School of Medicine has partnered with the Voter Engagement program at Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement to create this guide to voting in Missouri this August.

Here are your options for voting in Missouri in August.

Free notarization services

Notarization services for August ballots are available on campus and statewide. Please wear a mask and bring your unsigned ballot (to be signed in presence of notary), a government-issued ID and a pen.

How to submit your ballot by mail

If you’re not able to return your absentee or mail in ballot in time

Absentee or mail-in ballots must be received by the local election boards by close of business on Aug. 4. Voters have two options if they are not able to mail their absentee or mail in ballots with sufficient time to meet this deadline.

  1. First, voters who are eligible to vote absentee may take their absentee ballots to their local election authority to cast their ballots in person by Aug. 3 at 5 p.m.
  2. Second, voters who requested an absentee or mail in ballot can also vote in person at their local polling site on Aug. 4, so long as they have not already voted using the absentee or mail-in ballot. The staff at the polling location will void or “spoil” the absentee ballot, and the voter may proceed to cast an in-person ballot.
